This is the third time I have worked with Mark Parmenter. He was recommended to me by a developer back in 2003, when his company was called Kitchens Direct. Since then, he has fitted a big kitchen in a country house in 2003, a smaller kitchen in a suburban home when we moved in 2008, and most recently a galley kitchen in our daughter's London flat.
The reason we keep on going back to him is his design sense and his client friendly set-up. Unlike many larger bespoke kitchen companies, who won't send anybody around to site until a design has been agreed and deposit paid, Mark comes to site at the outset so that he can get a feel for the house and style of the owner, and immediately, he has a vision of the kind of kitchen and design that would work.
The visit was particularly important in our flat in a listed Georgian terraced building, as there were various blocked boxes for service pipes and the width of the kitchen was only 1.5m! We had traditional painted Shaker kitchens installed in our first 2 kitchens but he is now a dealer for Miton Kitchens, the Italian designer company. Their clean minimalist lacquered units work very well in our London galley kitchen.
He has a strong relationship with a Quartz manufacturer in the Midlands as well, thereby ensuring that his prices are competitive. His fitters, Richard and Jason, are experienced and lovely, and Mark is very hands on during the installation process. We had a few issues with our London kitchen, mostly created by the limited space we had to work with, but he came up with creative solutions.
This is a key difference to some of the bigger companies, whose designers often don't have sufficient on-site experience or have different people deal with various aspects of the kitchen, making the client experience more stressful. I can't recommend Mark and Kitchen Culture highly enough.
