Rather disappointing service this time round, having purchased our existing kitchen from Holtams. Received a quote three times that of a Wickes quote. I queried the sum, sent the Wickes quote as they requested. Then nothing, no reply, no call. Business must be great that they can quote such astronomical figures & ignore a past customer the way they did.

I'm very glad we used this company after they came recommended me. They were accommodating and highly professional. They were also very patient with my constant mind changing. The finish is far better than we were expecting it to be. Martin their fitter is very skillful and all the other trades were also great. I would definitely use them again.

While the end product is fine (mostly) in our case, the contempt this company displayed towards us was jaw dropping. Our purchase was a complete kitchen 4.5m x 3.3m. The cost 25,265. This was, 19,450 to Holtams for units, stand alone appliances, and preparation work. The rest was for electrical, plumbing, installing the kitchen and tiling and was paid separately to contractors.
We paid a deposit of 3557 so work could start on manufacture. A verbal start date was given some six weeks ahead. No confirmation of the date was received until I phoned our Holtams representative two days prior to the start date. He said we should have had a letter and blamed someone else for the oversight. A lie, we found out later, and the first of several, it was down to him.
So two days later the vans pulled up and no one got out. A call from our Holtams rep. came soon after. A courtesy call I thought, no, they wanted the balance of their 19,450 before work would begin. I paid over the phone. The preparation crew were at best, incompetent, Ceiling plastering was covered in dents and dings. I repaired that. The floor preparation left them baffled (removing adhesive) and I had to do that myself too.
The whole house was covered in dust. (the rep. typically said "there's nothing you can do about that"). We got the wrong oven. Rep. said "it's the one you ordered". Me. "no it isn't". Rep. "Oh, I'll look into it then." They changed it. After 24 days the wall tiling was finished and the kitchen usable. However we hat to wait another three weeks for a damaged door and shelf bracket to be replaced.
I still remember my wife pleading with the Holtams office manager (not our rep.) to at least, keep us up to date with what was happening. They didn't. Additional after reading Holtams reply. regarding the payment. I spoke to SV just two days prior. He never mentioned it, he waited until the van were on the doorstep to demand payment. The oven. SV's plans had H&S(sic) all over them, and SV spent a good 5 minutes persuading us to go for this type.
We accepted his recommendation. The oven we got wasn't. You expect us to take the list of model numbers and check each model is the correct one. (have you seen Neff model numbers) How would we know? As you say, things go wrong, that's acceptable, but a better measure of a company is how they rectify them.

Following a kitchen refit 2 years ago we have now had a bedroom refitted. A special thanks to Richard for his attention to detail, and the two fitters Frank and Neal for their high standards, it's reassuring to know you are dealing with a local Company who stands by good standards from plan to finish. Extremely pleased with both the kitchen and bedroom and have no hesitation in recommending Holtams

Had a kitchen supplied and fit by Holtams a few years ago. The design service and price matching, where possible, were excellent. The quality of fitting and possibly product, however, have left a little to be desired. We were told that the units installed are the same high quality the use for all kitchens and would last 30 years but I have already has to replace some of the hinge fittings screws with bolts as the casings will no longer take the screws supplied.
Within months I had to replace a hinge on the dryer door after it broke, I suspect it had not been tightened sufficiently as the replacement I put in has had no issues. I have also had to self install clips to keep some of the kick boards up after they kept falling over when we used the dish washer. I think the major warning should have been needing to get a plumber to replace the sink fittings the following day after install because a valve had been installed the wrong way leaving us with one of the tap feeds not working!
Overall a good design and supply experience but problems with installation that have required repair more quickly than should be anticipated. Strongly recommend their design services but, based on our experience and content of reviews on other sites, it is probably sensible to secure your own recommended fitter.
